1. Our Approach
We create art that hangs on walls — not a sector known for leading the climate transition. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a responsibility. We strive to do things a little better than the norm, and we are open about where we still have room for improvement.
Three principles guide our work:
- Produce only what is ordered — no stock products, no mass production on speculation
- Print locally — we do not outsource to other countries
- Minimise waste — in materials, packaging, and energy consumption
2. Print on-demand — no stock items
We don’t have a warehouse filled with pre-printed posters waiting to be sold. Every single poster, canvas, and acrylic glass print is produced after you have ordered it.
This means:
- We never produce more than is purchased
- No overproduction ends up in incineration
- No seasonal items that need to be “destroyed” when trends change
- You always receive a freshly printed poster — not one that has been sitting in stock for 6 months
3. Local production in Denmark
All production takes place at our address in Hadsten, East Jutland. This is a conscious decision. We could outsource to lower-wage countries and save money — but we believe that:
- Local production means shorter transport routes
- We can control quality directly without intermediaries
- We support local jobs and Danish craftsmanship
- There is a shorter and more transparent supply chain — you know where your poster comes from
4. Sustainable materials
Paper
We exclusively use FSC-certified paper for our posters. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) guarantees that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests where replanting and biodiversity are prioritised.
Canvas & stretcher bars
Our canvas is 360gsm cotton-polyester blended with water-based prints. The stretcher bars are made from FSC-certified Nordic pine — primarily sourced from Swedish and Finnish forestry.
Wallpaper
Our non-woven wallpaper is free from PVC and phthalates, and uses water-based ink without volatile solvents. This means it also releases no problematic substances into your home after installation.
Acrylic glass
Acrylic sheets are produced in the EU according to REACH standards. We have chosen to avoid PMMA from Asia where production and chemical standards are less stringent.
Ink
All prints are made with water-based pigment inks — not solvent-based. This results in lower chemical emissions during production and no volatile substances released in your home.
5. Packaging
We have designed our packaging to both protect the product and minimise material use:
- Poster tubes made from 100% recycled paper, can be recycled with paper sorting
- Canvas is sent in a perfectly sized cardboard box — no foam, no plastic
- Acrylic glass protected by recyclable film + cardboard box
- Tape is paper-based with natural adhesive, not plastic
- No promotional flyers or plastic wrap in the package — just the order slip
When you receive the package: almost everything can go in the paper recycling bin.
6. Transport & logistics
We choose our shipping companies (GLS, DHL, Danske Fragtmænd) partly based on their climate strategies. For example, GLS Denmark has been CO₂-neutral since 2020 through documented climate compensation and operates partially on electric vehicles in urban traffic.
Where we can, we consolidate shipments so that multiple orders travel the same route. Our XL canvases are shipped with consolidated DHL deliveries to avoid wasted capacity.
7. Energy in production
Our production facility in Hadsten runs on green energy through our energy supplier. This includes both printing machines, lighting, and heating — all powered by renewable sources from Denmark.
We have also invested in modern, energy-efficient printing machines that use up to 40% less power than the previous generation.
8. Waste & residual materials
Even with on-demand production, waste materials occur — trimmed paper, defective prints, damaged packaging. We sort everything:
- Paper & cardboard: sorted for recycling
- Canvas scraps: donated to local schools and art associations
- Acrylic glass trimmings: collected separately for specialised recycling
- Empty ink cartridges: returned to the manufacturer in a closed loop
9. Where we can still improve
We are not perfect — and we owe it to you to be honest about where we have work ahead of us:
- Climate compensation for shipments out of Denmark — we are evaluating which schemes actually create climate benefits
- End-of-life for printed posters — we would like to offer a return programme for used posters for recycling
- Climate accounting — we are in the process of having our first external climate account prepared in 2026
- Sustainable frames — we are exploring locally produced bamboo and recycled plastic as alternatives to standard frames
